OWNER, NEW DAWN PILATES™ Jenny Lelwica Buttaccio is a Certified Pilates Instructor and a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist. In 2005, Jenny was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (also known as Painful Bladder Syndrome). Shortly after a laparoscopic surgery to remove an ovarian cyst, she began to experience excruciating pain in her pelvic region and bladder. Over the past two years, her life has changed immensely. Having always been an active person, one major aspect of change in Jenny's life has been in the area of exercise. Being an Occupational Therapist and a Pilates Instructor, Jenny adapted a system of pilates-inspired exercises for herself and others who suffer from chronic pelvic pain. When asked to explain what led her to create her own unique brand of exercise, Jenny responded, "I was listening to other pelvic pain sufferers talk about how difficult it was for them to continue to exercise. I began researching exercise and pelvic pain and observed an overall lack of resources on this topic. Most of the advice that I did encounter spoke about the types of exercises that people shouldn't do, but provided little or no information about what people could do. I wanted a variety of REAL exercise strategies, exercises that could actually help tone my muscles without exacerbating my symptoms and exercises that would be safe for my unique needs. It’s nearly impossible for a person who suffers with a pelvic pain disorder to find a workout that tones and conditions…so I made one for us." Jenny currently resides in Chicago with her husband and enjoys exploring new exercise ideas. New Dawn Pilates™ was formed in 2007 in order to provide individuals with Pelvic Pain, video materials and an online community for support and exchange of exercise ideas.
